The main opposition parties of Goran, Komal and Yakgrtu have met today to decide on what to do next and find a way out of the political deadlock in Kurdistan Region.
All the parties have been supporting the protesters but none has officially declared their support. In a joint statement today, they asked Kurdistan Regional Government to resign. The opposition have so far fallen short asking for the dissolution of parliament. It is not clear if the government would resign because only two days ago, the president has strongly rejected the opposition demands in a meeting with his government.

Maidani Azadi temporary committee for the protesters in Sulaimaniyah have called on president Barzani to go on Monday. The committee also called for dissolution of parliament and the resignation of PM and Cabinet. Nevertheless, oppositions have chosen to support parliament for the time being and form a unity (Accord) government in order to carry out the proposed reforms.
The opposition are not clear about the President's role and the tri party statement is making it clear that the main purpose of the new Accord government will be to prepare for parliamentary election and carry out reforms. The press release point out that the new elections must be fair and conducted by independent institutions.
Kurdistan government and militia forces have frustrated Maidani Azadi (Sera Square) protesters in Sulaimaniyah in recent days. The protesters feel that government have not done anything to see to their demands and are not serious in carrying out reforms. This latest development would disappoint some protesters and others may find the unity government the only solution for the way out of current impasse.
Tri party statement also called on government to listen to the demand of the public and protesters in Maidani Azadi (Sera Square). They believe the protesters demands are legitimate and any responsible government should listen to them in order to allow progress.
Furthermore they point out that oppositions 22 point proposal which gave government 30 days to introduce laws curbing corruption have been ignored and none of the proposals have been taken seriously by the government.
